A Day of Ballet Audition Photoshoots

Audition season is here!

This past week, the studio transformed into a hub of artistry and movement as I hosted a dedicated day of audition photoshoots for dancers. From students in training to seasoned professionals, each dancer brought their own story. It’s always a privilege (and sometimes daunting) to be a part of such a career-defining process.

Audition photography is more than just taking a beautiful portrait. For dancers, it’s about creating images that showcase clean lines, precise technique, and the artistry that makes them stand out to directors, schools, and companies. Throughout the day, I worked closely with each dancer to highlight both their technical strength, provide corrections to show them at their absolute best, whilst also helping them shine and enjoy the process.

For the younger dancers, the sessions marked an important milestone in their journey, building portfolios for upcoming auditions and summer intensives. For the professionals, it was about refreshing their portfolio with updated images that reflect their growth.

I am grateful to all the dancers who place their trust in me to capture their artistry, and we look forward to seeing these images help them shine in auditions and beyond.
